How ServerVault Automates Backup and Quickens Recovery

To commence service, a management interface known as the CentralControl is installed on a desktop and configured with data selection, retention schedules and encryption levels through an easy step-by-step wizard. Lightweight software agents are then installed on selected servers, desktops or laptops and synchronized with the CentralControl. To establish a complete full backup, data can now “seed” via the Internet or private line. For larger volumes, a Mobile Vault disk device is delivered, exported to and shipped back to AmeriVault for a seed import.

Block Delta Processing

Once seeded, only new or changed data blocks are detected within files or databases. Blocks are then compressed and optionally encrypted up to 256-bit AES, before being pushed outbound and secured in our world-class data center. Typically, changed block data represents only a few percent of native data, greatly reducing backup times. Integrity checks ensure data sent is equal to data received. Lastly, an email is sent confirming the backup operation.

Quick, Reliable Recovery

With no added hardware or manpower, changed data will automatically back up and create retention logs or safesets from which online restores can be made. Through the CentralControl, a restore wizard requires a few mouse clicks to select and restore files or databases with lightning speed. For larger volumes, a Mobile Vault or HotBox recovery device can be shipped for a disk-to-disk restore.
